May Wrap up
31 May 2009
Ended up not really playing a whole lot in May. My graphs ended up being similiar to my February graphs in terms of hands played, winrate, and sd/nonsd winnings. The interesting thing about this is that in February I mostly 6-8 tabled 100nl, where as this month I mostly 16 tabled 50nl. I think my overall EV winrate was over 4BB/100 and I think that's pretty decent with how many tables I was playing. I saw some crazy variance in a few of the last sessions I played this month, but other than that it went pretty smoothly.
My motivation to play has dropped a bit since the weather started getting nicer, but I should get back into a better groove for June. I've started putting more time into learning the game again and will work towards progressing up to higher limits once again. I've also rebuilt my roll enough now to allow me to play higher limits again as well. I have a trip to Vegas scheduled for the 17th-20th of June, and I may even fly down sooner than that. Not sure how much poker I'll get in while I'm out there, but I am interested in checking out the WSOP room again while I'm out there.
Disaster Session
27 May 2009
Actually managed to get over seven hours in today, which is something I haven't done in a few months now with poker. Still grinding 50nl for a few days, then will be getting back to 100nl again. The day started off pretty strong at +2 Buyins, then I quickly dropped to -6 buyins, while finally rebounding to even at the end of the session. Really just a lot of really bad spots and some gross hands. Also value owned myself all day long. Seems like everyone who had the nuts wanted to play it like it was bottom pair. Either way I broke even finally but my pretty hourly rate for this month took a hit. Hopefully I'll get a few more hours in tomorrow before the weekend comes.
As for stocks, I had a good day today making +6%. Sold my spot on SRS today although I feel it may trail up through Friday. Might make a move mid day tomorrow but most likely I'll watch how the action plays out and figure out what I want to do.
Ah the pains
18 May 2009
Had to work last weekend so didn't really get any playing time in. Starting to grind up again today but I really struggle without taking caffeine.. even on adderall. I really don't want to go back to caffeine so I need to see what I can do. Either way I'll try and grind out some massive hours this week and make up for lack of playing in the prior few months.
Also, I just started my Scottrade account up today with $10k and I'm going to semi track my results on here. I'm hoping I can quickly build this up over the next month or two so I can focus on the market more.
I still need to find those hands I wrote down from Atlantic City, they should be around here somewhere. Once I find them I'll throw those up here as well.
Back in the grind
13 May 2009
Haven't played a whole lot of poker over the last month. Lost a bunch of time moving into a new apartment and was also deployed to Greenland for a week. Everything is mostly set up now so I should fall back into my normal routine soon.
As for the stock market, I pretty much got destroyed in my first few attempts, but I think I can still figure it out better and become profitable in the long term. I also switched from E*Trade to Scottrade because I got sick of the retardation that E*Trade is. My plan for now is to still grind out and improve in poker, while slowly learning the market better on the side. I think I'd prefer to be a day trader/investor in a few years as opposed to being mostly a full time poker player at this point. The hours are a lot better and I feel the entire process is much less stressful and grueling than grinding out hours of poker every day.
As for posting hands, I'll probably get some up soonish but it might be a few weeks before I post any good ones. I ended up cashing my bankroll down to $2,000 while I was focusing on the stock market, and as such am just mass tabling 50nl right now. I've already made over $1,000 in a little over 10 hours so I should be back playing tougher games again soon. On the other hand, my win rate has been so ridiculously high at 50nl this past week that I may just grind it out a bit longer than planned, since taxes this year aren't going to be any fun.
