F'ing Tuesday
28 July 2009
Finished last weekend very strong. Made another 4 buyins on Sunday and overall played well with no real goofy hands. Took Monday off and did some hand review and took notes on a few videos. Decided to play today and really got off to a rough start. Was up one buyin and then got gutted a few hands right after that, putting me back at even. After wards I played a 4b pot terribly which I really had no business being involved in at all. My biggest leak at this point is probably identifying which spots need to be completely avoided and which spots are good to attack.
I did manage to rebound by the end of the session and turn a decent profit, but really just ended up being a sloppy day for me overall. There were a few hands I missed a decent amount of value on and my hand reading/barreling was a bit on the weak side. I did run somewhat bad with just one thing after another happening and ended up having to take several breaks throughout the session. I think there were several times I had a decent hand vs. a huge fish and some nitty reg decided to throw out some wild 3b squeeze preflop with total garbage, each time blowing me off my hand when I would have ended up stacking the fish. I also feel like I really struggled getting good table position on the fish in general today, as I seemed to always have them on my left no matter what I tried to do.
I do need to do a little bit more hand review later tonight as again I played sloppy today and there was really no reason for doing so. I'm going to try to get about 6 hours or so in tomorrow night so hopefully that session will be better.
Big Saturday
26 July 2009
Yesterday was the first time I've played on a weekend in months, and I'm glad I did because I did really well making over 8 buyins in 2,000 hands. I started off to a rough start not really running well and having some rough spots. After being even for 3 hours I just hit a rocket and started stacking people left and right. I think I played very solidly for most of the session but I did make a few mistakes. Looking back at my hands, I really didn't have a whole lot of losing hands so there are less hands posted this session than I may normally get up. Although, this isn't necessarily a bad thing either and I could get used to not losing any hands.
Strong Like Ox
24 July 2009
Had a solid session today, playing about 6 hours and making 5 buyins. Was focused on playing most of the session and made a few pretty good reads. I think I only had a few hands where I made some blatant mistakes but otherwise did pretty well. Made up for my debacle last night and then some as well. Looking few my hands I really didn't have too many crazy ones, probably just one hand I lost which I played poorly but nothing else out of the ordinary. Also posted one older hand which I had forgotten to list. Might not get too much play time in tomorrow but should get some good hours in on Saturday.
Really Blew End of Night
22 July 2009
Did pretty well overall. I did 4 sessions today and absolutely killed the first 3 and was up about 700 after 4 hours. Played one last one for 30 mins and just lost 300 back like it was my job. Really made some retarded plays and likely got outplayed a few times. Should have probably just stayed off since I was getting more tired but at least I got off before I blew anymore. Anyways, posted a bunch of hands.
Another Bizzare Day
20 July 2009
Started off super strong, made some great reads and plays and was pretty happy overall. Took a short break and came back for another session. Made quads right off the bat for a full stack, and then lost a stack back to quads shorty after. I kept running into some really really weird spots all night and was struggling to beat the super high vpip fish who just kept hitting on me. The deck seemed a little stacked against me in the second session so I think I did ok considering how everything went but definitely could have done better. I ended up overall for the day but only barely and really didn't consider this to be that great of a day.
Posted a bunch of hands from the session. Most of the hands I posted seem much much weaker than I've been playing lately. I don't know if i was just out of it or was overloaded by goofy spots but I really just didn't know what to do in several spots.
Total Waste of a Weekend
20 July 2009
Had some really cool power outage issues this past week. Lost entire day of Thursday and some of Friday. I initially thought I was late on an electric bill when it first went out. Seeing as my last bill was only for $7.34 I was fairly confident that such was not the case. Not sure what actually happened but most of the area lost power within a 30+ mile radius. Weekend of course I went out too much and am loving summer so didn't get in a ton of hands. Putting my foot down this week and am going to better regulate my schedule and get more time in.
Also, starting to take training and side work a lot more seriously. Been watching a bunch of theory/live play videos lately and have been taking notes as if it were just school. Also reviewing a lot of my own play and have been looking for leaks and other potential ways to play hands. Finally, I've also been observing higher limit play and taking notes on player and trying to guess what is going on in the hands. I think all of this should pay dividends in time as I've been progressing well lately and still have a strong drive to push on. As of now I'm grinding the roll a bit more at 100nl but do plan on playing 200nl come August 1st.
I am getting some hands in today so I may post some more later but haven't had any post worthy yet.. just been squeezing a lot of pots and taking down some good non showdown value. Off to the gym now, probably first time in two months but my physical shape has been falling apart lately and It's probably time to get on top of that. I dream of looking like D_zoo when I grow up and only through hard work and dedication may such lofty goals be achieved.
Blaaaah
16 July 2009
Was in one of those antsy moods today when I finally got on for the session. Ran pretty bad in the first hour at 100nl and then decided I just wanted to mass table 50nl for the rest of the night. Went on the rollercoaster run of my life dropping 3 buyins instantly, making 5 back, losing another 3 etc. Was up 6 at one point and then ran incredibly bad losing hand after hand. All in all I ended up breaking even for the day including all 100nl and 50nl hands... which is pretty disgusting since I was up so much more in 50nl. Hopefully I got all the bad luck out of my system though because today made me want to puke and I'm anxious to get back to grinding 100nl again tomorrow. Posted a few random hands from the session but nothing special.
Solid Day
14 July 2009
Played a bit over the weekend but didn't end up making any updates. Tried to play a bit last night but was so exhausted that I just ended up watching 4 hours of videos or so. Today I got in a solid 6 hours over 3 sessions. My middle session was real rough on me and I ended up playing very tight around 14/10. I was somewhat out of it at the time and was facing a ton of crazy players including more than 1 player playing over 90% vpip. I didn't think I could in good reason leave the table with someone like that playing, but in retrospect I was probably better off leaving when I wasn't feeling super comfortable playing. My last session I finished somewhat strong and played at a much higher vpip/pfr as usual.
I think I'm still playing solid for the most part but am still having some crazy hands here and there that I play a bit too wild and need work on.
Short But Fairly Good
10 July 2009
Still was a bit out of it today. Probably still need to exercise more so I'll get on top of that again. I think I played around 2 hours today but my focus wasn't 100% and I was really dazed half the time so I ended up calling it quits much sooner than I originally planned. I still did get a few solid hands in though and made one preflop read in particular I was fairly proud of. Might take an easy day tomorrow since it's actually not supposed to rain tomorrow, but we'll see what happens.
Eratic Day
09 July 2009
I don't think I brought my best game to the table today, and made several mistakes throughout a pretty juicy session. For some reason I was pretty groggy when I woke up and I don't think I ever really fell into a rhythm for the day. That being said, I still had a great day today and have been crushing it all week long at about 8BB/100. Had a few well played hands mixed in with the bad which helped, as well as a few gifts from the ratarded folks. I kind of fell off the wagon at the end of the session and dropped 1.5 buyins on several poorly thought out plays, although I don't think they were the worst hands I've ever played either.. because I can play really awful when I want to. Either way, was a good day with a lot of hands to learn from. Will be putting in some more hours tomorrow for sure.
Settling In More
08 July 2009
Had another solid day today, got in about 5 hours... a little bit less than what I was aiming for but I played fairly well the entire time. Made a few goofy plays here and there but I think I am starting to understand the game better. Also feeling a lot more comfortable playing 6 fast 50bbmin tables.
Really experimented with and stepped up my 3betting today as well. Made good value in a few spots because of my looser image, and also picked up a lot of good preflop spots. I'm going to really focus on this area more in the future as increased 3betting has really opened up my game over my last few sessions.
Back in Action
07 July 2009
Had a long relaxing 4th of July weekend, and didn't get much poker in at all. Started up hard again today and played pretty well. My first session I was up 4 buyins very quickly and then bled 3 back off. The second session I basically just regained the ground I lost in the first. I think I started to lose focus in the first session which is why I bled off the chips that I did. The second session I was very focused and aggressive during most of the time, which payed off I'm pretty sure.
Only had a few out of line hands with most everything else being fairly standard. Going to play hard again tomorrow and the rest of this week as well most likely.
Finally Hit a Turn Around Point
02 July 2009
Last night I passed out for 12 hours straight, and this was the most sleep I've gotten in weeks. I decided to go for a run late last night and I think that was all I needed to actually go to bed early and sleep soundly. Although I'm fairly groggy today, I have a lot more energy and my mind is much sharper than it has been in the past.
After reviewing some things I put in another session with a new approach. I decided to play the 50bb min tables today instead of just regular tables to avoid all the short stacks. I think the short stacks have been tilting my play lately and have been making me want to play more tables since there are less complicated decisions to be made on tables with a bunch of short stacks. By the end of the day I was playing near 24/20 and was doing a pretty good job of taking advantage of situations. I was 3betting light a lot against players who were giving pots up to me, and made a few decent squeezes as well. I also think I was much more calm from getting a better nights rest, so I was able to more accurately read hands and not feel so paranoid about people always bluffing me in pots.
Slow Day But Some Progress
02 July 2009
Decided to cut back on the amount of tables I play at once for this month. Started off doing 6 and was up fairly well at one point. As the session went on I got beat on several rough hands and I think I made some pretty terrible plays as well. Pretty volatile session and I'm not please with the results. For the mistakes I made, I feel like I shouldn't have ever made them considering the fact I was on so few tables. Think I'm still low on energy in general though. Might reach a turn around point once I fall back into better sleep/exercise/eating routines again.
